I thought I had dined at all of the best steakhouses in Kansas City, but apparently I was wrong. Who knew that one of Kansas City's best kept secrets was located in Martin City?
Jess & Jim's; one of the oldest family run steakhouse has been serving up some of the best food since 1938.
We ventured out to Martin City to celebrate my father in law's birthday. Jess & Jim's was his choice for where would be dining, and I am not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical. I had an idea of what it might be, and it just didn't seem like my kind of place, but boy was I wrong.
Sure, the interior may not be fancy. You won't find white tablecloths, or a sommelier to help you with your wine selection. But, do you really need that to have a great experience? It's all about the food, and believe me Jess & Jim's delivers in that department.
You definitely need to come hungry, because there are so many good things to try on the menu and the portions are big. We devoured the fried cauliflower (pictured) and their insanely good onion rings. I can't believe after both the appetizers that we were able to eat our steak, and the larger than life baked potato. The steaks are seasoned with their special blend of seasoning that creates a subtle but delicious flavor. Overall, the meal was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for more.
Every Friday at Jess & Jim's from 7:30 to close they have music in their lounge. We happened to see Steve and Tracey who were excellent. They played really fun 60's and 70's hits that everyone enjoyed. We had such a blast! I definitely was not expecting to find that in this little family run steakhouse.
